Crucify Me

Call me now to my cross,
for I will bear it for my crime
and you will hold your bright hot torches
and swords and knives
and you will scream, “Crucify her,
crucify her,
crucify her.”
But I will let you take me down,
hang me up,
and nail my crime above my head.
My crime:I loved too hard.
My sentence:
my impending death.
So crucify me.

Call me now to my cross
for I will bear it for my crime
and you will nail my heart to it
and watch it faintly beat its love song
to its death.
But my love will resurrect me
from the ashes that you will burn me to
and breathe me back to life.
I don’t regret my crime.
So crucify me.

Call me now to my cross
for I will bear it for my crime.
Oh, I will bear it for my crime.
You will hang me here
and I will die here
an example to all the lovers out there
that this
is
love.
For God so loved the world
that he sent his only Son to die
but I so loved you
that I sent myself to this crucifix
to bleed my love and die for you.
But I would not take back a single blood-stained tear
nor a single drop of blood
as it lovingly pours from my body.
I don’t retract my love.
So crucify me.
